Graduation quilts presentation day

I wrote a blog earlier about high school graduation quilts that I make and give to my family members.  This year, we had two graduations, so I'm showing you the two pictures taken at the presentation of the quilts.

This first one is of me and my grandson, Nick DeJarlais.  He graduated from Bellevue High School and will be attending the University of Washington in the fall.  His favorite color is orange.

The next one is of me and my great niece, Katherine Adams.  She graduated in Sammamish, WA and also will be attending the University of Washington.  Her favorite color is dark green (which is on the back of her quilt).

  3. I am not a blogger, but I'm obsessed with the graduation quilt you made your grandson! I have a few questions for you; did you use a pattern? And did you applique the circles and sew them on or did you sew them inside the square? I would like to make something similar for my daughter this year. I am debating between winging this quilt (or buying the pattern if you have one) or modifying the tango quilt pattern by cluck cluck sew and doing squares instead of circles. Thanks in advance!!

    1. I drafted the pattern myself. All you need to do is draw a circle in the size you prefer, add 1/4", and turn the edges to the wrong side. I machine appliqued them to the background squares with invisible thread. BTW, that grandson is now off to medical school.
