Synaptic - Part One

Synaptic was a pattern that was released in 2023 by Prairie and Ocean.  I just loved it!  Although I don't buy patterns very often, this was the second one this year that I decided to make.  Hmm?

Janice Reimer was the pattern designer and she provided several different color versions with the pattern.  Of course, I had to make it my own, so I colored in several options.   Here is the version that I liked the best.

Most of the pieces were cut at 1-1/2" wide, and I had enough fabric in my stash to get the colorway that I wanted.  What I learned early on is that with this narrow of a strip, the pieces had to be cut accurately and sewn accurately!  (I think its because the pieces are cut on the cross grain that they stretch and wobble just a little more than if they were cut on grain.)  I also had to make sure and size the pieces as I sewed; and trimmed/marked to get the exact measurements.  They were very tricky to sew, even for an advanced sewer like me.  I crossed my fingers that it would all work out.

Here are the first 3 blocks sewn and on the design wall:

Stay tuned to see how the extra skinny pieces got sewn!
